School Lunch Ideas

Waaaa!!!

That is me crying because summer is unofficially over.

Woot Woot!!

That is me cheering because the kids go back to school this week which means I will get some sort of schedule back in my life.

Ugh!!

That is me thinking about all of the lunches I will have to start making when I’m half asleep at 7 AM.

My kids aren’t huge fans of school lunches.  On the one hand I’m kind of happy because the lunches I pack them are healthier than the ones they get at school.  On the other hand, I have to actually MAKE those healthier lunches which gets to be pretty tiresome.

Healthy, Kid Friendly Smoothie

Sometimes I wonder if other people get as much pleasure as I do from seeing their children eat healthy food. There is just something so reassuring about it, knowing that vitamins and nutrients are being flooded through their growing bodies.

Luckily, on these hot, summer August days, smoothies are a big hit in my home.  My ‘go to’ smoothie for my kids contains almond milk, some frozen or fresh berries, and a bit of raw honey.  Berries are high in fiber, potassium, and vitamins A and C.  My kids love the taste and I love the nutrition.

Just recently I decided to take a chance by adding one more ingredient to their smoothies, hoping they wouldn’t notice.

Low Calorie Cocktail Mixer: Is It Healthy?

Saturday nights.  The one night of the week where there is absolutely no guilt about indulging in a few drinks and any shenanigans that come with it.

I have to admit – I am a creature of habit.  Once I find something I like, I have no problem sticking with it.  This applies to my alcoholic drink of choice, too.

Back in the day, it was all about calories – who cared about health?  I remember when my drink of choice was Stoli Vanilla and Diet Coke.  YUM!!!

But at this point, soda (even diet) has no place in my diet.

Zucchini Spaghetti with Tomatoes, Mozzarella, & Pesto Sauce

For those of you who have been following my blog for some time, you know I am obsessed with the Veggetti.  For those of you who are new to the blog, you can learn all about the Veggetti and why I love it here.  And here is another post with a Veggetti recipe.
